A Word from the President

How do we develop a healthy, competitive, responsive
Canadian cybersecurity industry that can strengthen our ability to defend ourselves?

Canada’s cybersecurity ecosystem is essentially a multitude of small companies working in isolation. Every year, billions of dollars are invested to increase the cyber resilience of Canadian infrastructures and organizations. Most of this spending is threatening to leave the country for better structured ecosystems and large international groups that have understood the importance of being valued by
major clients.

The idea of federating the key players in the ecosystem to build up a strike force and reach national and international clients is ambitious. It requires commitment, mobilization and resilience. We have no shortage of these, because we have all understood how crucial it is today to build bridges and multiply channels to work together to support a promising innovation ecosystem with undeniable know-how. And we achieved this common understanding and strength, thanks to our members—companies that offer cybersecurity services, products and solutions, educational and training institutions, research centers, government agencies—who have come to swell our ranks year after year since the cluster’s inception in 2017.

This observation is the basis of what In-Sec-M is now: a concrete response of the ecosystem that needed a Canadian-wide and bilingual structure that can reach out to both the private and public sectors and brings together the players in the cybersecurity ecosystem and whoever wants to play an active role in a constantly evolving environment.

Together, for sustainable economic growth, a strong industry and a more secure digital future.
