Kereon, improving your cybersecurity behaviors
With the various adjustments imposed by the COVID-19 pandemic, the cybersecurity industry has faced several challenges to protect businesses from potential cyber attacks. In fact, since the beginning of the pandemic, the Canadian Center for Cyber Security has issued more than a hundred alerts on potential threats and attacks.
Facing these major threats, Kereon Inc., founded in 2003, was acquired in 2016 by its vice-president Patrick Chouinard; a cybersecurity expert with more than twenty-eight years of experience in the field. Kereon offers security solutions such as the development of cybersecurity programs and tools that complies with laws and regulations, training and advisory services, as well as awareness for businesses and their employees.
According to Mr. Chouinard, the awareness program is: “an essential opportunity to train companies and raise awareness of their employees on a good cyber hygiene. Human beings are asked to adapt quickly to new technologies and new tools, without taking the time to show them how to use them and protect themselves. This negligence is an open door to cyber criminals who are increasingly using sophisticated methods against companies.”
Kereon’s customers profile
Kereon is currently working with three main categories of clients:
- large companies that are very mature in cybersecurity (banks, etc.);
- customers who are legally required to have a cybersecurity program (companies that use payment systems, etc.);
- companies that have been victims of computer attacks or ransomware.
Although, its primary market is in Quebec and Canada generally Kereon works with partners in more than thirty-five countries in Europe, the US, and Peru recently.
Why did you choose to be a member of In-Sec-M?
Having known In-Sec-M through the government of Quebec, during a project submission, Mr. Chouinard affirms being happy to see such an organization: “In-Sec-M is an opportunity to be part of a network, being able to meet different customers that we might not have the opportunity to know. Also, it is a great possibility of developing business partners; this kind of organization must be known and promoted.”
“Cyber security isn’t just about technology, it’s about people, said Mr. Chouinard. At Kereon, we believe it is important to help the less equipped to find better ways to better defend themselves, even if the technical aspect must be taken consider.”
