IRCC to renew its biometric hardware

As a courtesy, this communiqué is to inform you that IRCC has begun soliciting industry, through a Request for Information (RFI), on new innovations and feedback related to enterprise biometric collection solutions and service models.

Background

The Canadian Immigration Biometric Identification System (CIBIDS) facilitates the collection of biometric fingerprints and photos in support of IRCC’s Immigration Lines of Business. IRCC is currently engaged in research and planning efforts to support the future evolution and evergreening of CIBIDS.

Status

A Letter of Interest (LOI) was posted July 9th, 2021 on Buyandsell.gc.ca. The LOI informs biometrics IT industry vendors and solution integrators about the potential procurement and instructs them to register with PSPC to receive a copy of the RFI document. PSPC began sending the RFI to registered vendors on July 19th, 2021.
